Volunteer Program application

Would like to consider to have this position be a new board member position

Middleground communication between climbing community and MRNM - ideal volunteer would be involved in coalition

Currently no discussion on management plan with them but we will see how this will progress

Basically, this first meeting was a good meet and greet and establishing good connections.

Reel Rock 18 | Spring Showing

I Inquired about a reel Rock screening since I saw that it was already released.

  • Location(s): Elks Theatre & Beacon?

  • When: March/April? (Maybe Earth Day?)

  • Reel Rock Pricing = $1400 for two showings

Beacon: April 20th - Flat Fee - $500? - Public showing until 6:30

Elks: Only available after May 9th or before 22nd

rate: $1500-2200 on weekend | $500-700 on week day

Question: Would it be worth having the showing even though it would be possible to buy it online?

Member commented on the community building aspect of having showing in person, elks would bring in other outdoor enthusiasts that we normally won't bring in.

Motion to have showing on May 10th or 11th at Elks even though it is after online release PASSED by majority members

May 10th at the Elks and 11th at the Beacon (if possible)

Looking for committee members for Reel Rock committee we may establish for this showing.

To get donations, reach out to companies, and set up/take down event

Event Insurance

Update from Brandon

Looking at insurance for Pumpfest and Beans and Biners

  • Pretty standard practice for other festivals and public climbing events

  • Policy options are usually by the day

  • Based on event, venue, how many people, pre-planning, waivers, etc (determines cost)

  • Companies want to sponsor event but they require we have insurance for sponsor us

  • Broad range of insurance is $700-$2400 for the day

  • Maybe school of mines would be helpful in event insurance (like the spearfish climbing day)

    • Or putting on another event

    • Indoor bouldering is the main thing for school of mine students

  • Be aware of insurance prices based on how many donors and how many donors are LISTED - sometimes plans are $150 or $250 more per additional sponsor listed

Spearfish Climbing Day

When do we wanna do this - Likely Fall

Could reach out to the BHSU climbing club to partner for a scramble event.

  • not heard back, they used the School’s insurance for this event

  • May?
